Like most tank sims out there, it has STEEL in the name, so you know it's serious business. Well I got your answer right here, future tankfag, it's called Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942. Playable Vehicle Comparison: (Coming Soon)
Steel beasts pro update#

Steel beasts pro simulator#
SABOW has quite good physics for tanks travelling over terrain, and the armor and ballistic modelling is realistic.īoth games are quite dated, graphically, however this should be expected with any sort of niche simulator like this.

Interaction with the tank and your crew is accomplished almost entirely through hotkeys or clicking on UI elements, and there are no complex systems management sequences- you click a button to turn on your tank's engine, you click a different button to turn on the stabilizer, etcetera. Steel Armor: Blaze of War (Shortened to "SABOW") is set primarily in the Iran-Iraq War (with maps and smaller campaigns set during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and in the Angolan Civil War), allowing the player to crew any position in either a Soviet T-62 or an American M60A1. The two most popular tanksims on /simg/ at the time of writing are Graviteam's Steel Armor: Blaze of War, and eSim Games' Steel Beasts Pro: Personal Edition. This is 100% being modelled after the planefag pastebin. Mk.2- Added Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942 info (courtesy of anon)
Steel beasts pro license#
Mk.1*- Added GrmlzGaming SABOW videos at suggestion of anon, added information on Steel Beast license options and pricing,Īdded"/simg/ Approved Literature" section for books on tanks/tank warfare, general housekeeping in some areas. RAW Paste Data 1.0=TANKFAG PASTEBIN Mk.1*=

The $125USD license also requires the usage of a USB dongle for copyprotection- the time-limited licenses do not require this.
Steel beasts pro upgrade#
Be aware that Steel Beasts is quite expensive- $125USD for an unlimited license which requires a $40USD upgrade to play any subsequent major versions- time-limited licenses are available ($10USD for 30 days, $25USD for 4 months, $40USD for 1 year), and these include any major versions that may be pushed during the period the license is active. Vehicle physics are somewhat basic, however they're close enough to get the job done. All crew positions other than loader can be occupied by the player. While hotkeys do exist for SB, most vehicles have clickable interiors. It features a good variety of playable vehicles (everything from a modernized T-55 up to an M1A2, from a BMP-2 to an M2), all with fully-modeled interiors, and most with all combat-relevant systems modeled.
Steel beasts pro software#
I'm going to focus on the armored NATO units moving into Hameln, particularly the ones north Coppenbrugge (see map in the first image above).Steel Beasts Pro: Personal Edition (Shortened to just "Steel Beasts", SB, SBPro) is the consumer version of software used by some military groups for training and crew familiarization. Note the two bridges on the right.Īlthough it would be extremely cool, I'm not going to re-create the whole Hameln scenario into Steel Beasts ProPE. The city of Hameln is surrounded by hills and woods. One of the maps in Steel Beasts ProPE covers the very area of the North German Plain scenario shown above. I was playing the traditional turn based tactical/operational game North German Plain (map on the top of the image above) and got curious about how the attacks/defenses that are automatically resolved in the game would look and feel in the 3D world of Steel Beasts ProPE (pasted screenshot in the bottom of the image above). NATO armored forces are tasked with retaking the bridges over the Wesser and to hold against the Soviet armored forces attempting to link up with the desants. The tactical situation: Soviet forces try to capture a crossing over the Wesser River at the city of Hameln. The games: HPS Sims' North German Plain 85 and eSims' Steel Beasts ProPE
